French sheep breeds presentation and visit of didactic farm of Vendome Agricultural Highschool

Since the very first day of the intensive program (Monday, March 21st), the French BTS students pleased us with a presentation of certain interesting French sheep breeds: Limousin, Ile de France, Berichon de Cher and regional rustique sheep.

They spoke in English so it was very comprehensive for all students from other European countries. We guess it was a really exciting experience for the French students, because they had the opportunity to practice both technical knowledges and English communication. Congratulations for their courage and succesful presentations!

During the afternoon, we enjoyed the tour of the didactic farm of Vendome Agricultural Highschool. We visited certain barns with many animal species: cows (Prim Holstein breed), horses (Anglo-Arabian, Percheron, Fallabela, Shettland) and pigs (Large White extra long size :)))) ). We were pleased to see their offsprings (foals and piglets) and certain technological systems specific for each type of animals.

We also could visit the milking hall and the milk reservoir tank hall, during the prelevation of milk by a company which comes every three days to take the milk for processing.

We also enjoyed the visit in the food chemistry lab, where we could find conventional and new techniques applied in food quality check. We also appreciated the equipments and the ability of students to work with them.

Overall, there were wonderful moments to communicate within the group and to exchange knowledge, meet new friends and learn a plenty of stuff.
Therefore, many thanks and our best wishes to the French BTS students, Mme. Prof. Christelle Plocus which organised the intensive programme as well as the Staff of the Vendome Agricultural HighSchool-Directeur Mr. Ricard Bruno et Directeur adjoint Mr. Provots Franck.
